Our story
Founded by the Worrell family, The South Wing at Elk Chute Lodge has been a dream brought to life and continues to be an ever-growing journey. In 2017 the Worrells built Elk Chute Lodge as a hunting retreat to bring hunters and families alike to the bootheel of Southeast Missouri. After seeing the beauty and potential of the area, the Worrells decided to expand their property into a venue. Today, they are hard at work developing the much anticipated South Wing. What started with a lodge, is now becoming a place to share lasting memories you can cherish for years to come. The South Wing is expected to be fully completed by September of 2021 and we can’t wait for guests to see what awaits.
how it all began
The Worrells never anticipated owning a venue until a bride inquired about their property. It was then that the first wedding was held indoors at Elk Chute Lodge, sparking their new adventure. After the success of that wedding, many brides began contacting the Worrells. To accommodate the growing interest, the Worrells decided to breathe more life into their property. They created an outdoor oasis by installing a tranquil pond complete with an enchanting bridge and a rustic grain bin gazebo. Just beyond, a waterfall feature greets guests accompanied by landscape lighting. For outdoor ceremonies, the Worrells built two large covered stamped concrete patios.
Today, the Worrells continue their journey as they build a new addition called “The South Wing.” This space will include a 24x24 bridal suite loft where brides can see guests as they arrive. The South Wing will also feature a balcony overlooking the reception hall below for stunning views and photo opportunities. The grand jewel will be the 60x40 reception hall, featuring three sets of French doors and expansive windows to highlight stunning sunsets over the country fields beyond.
